at the beginning of the year 2015, just for fun, dylan began designing alternate football helmet design concepts and uploading them on an instagram profile he made titled fresh football helmets. shortly after beginning, young’s friend joseph cantrell (co-host of dylan’s podcast known as the dylan and joe show) uploaded some of dylan’s helmet design concepts to redit. after doing so, the helmet designs blew up and were all over social media, the internet and national and worldwide television and news markets. young’s helmets were featured on espn.com, nfl.com, cbssportsline.com, fox sports, espn’s at-the-time television show “sports nation” and dylan was recorded and interviewed by oklahoma news 9 and appeared on a radio station in flordia to talk about the ucf knights design concept he created. rap artist snoop dogg elected to use a pittsburgh steelers design concept dylan designed for his little league football team and kent state university purchased young’s intellectual property of the kent state design young did and as of the 2022 season, kent state is still wearing the helmet concept young designed back in 2015.
